Rants and Raves / Which side when meeting oncoming riders?
« on: September 22, 2017, 01:28:53 PM »
Growing tired of close calls with newbies who swing to their left when meeting oncoming riders I decided to stop grumbling and start explaining trail etiquette - both riders should pull to their right.  Today I was told that, no, you only pull right when there is room to do so.  Otherwise you go left - especially on side hills where you "go to the uphill side".  When I suggested this was setting up a head on collision they argued I was being a dick because they had politely left me enough room to pass on my left.

Tech Bench / Tubeless experience

Anyone notice recurring "wet spots" on their tires where a clear oily fluid is seeping through sealed punctures?  After nearly a year of use I have 6 or 7 wet spots on the rear tire that show up after the bike sits a day or so, but no air leaks.  I expected to see white spots from the Stan's sealant, but all I can see are tiny cuts that get wet overnight.  Shaking the tire, it still sounds like plenty of fluid inside so it doesn't seem to be hurting anything.

Brown County State Park / IMBA car parked at HP this morning

Was a little surprised to see an IMBA car parked at HP this morning.  Are they scouting the area for a trail system rating upgrade?

Brown County State Park / Documentary being shot on Tower Connect
« on: May 15, 2016, 08:07:40 AM »
Ran across a dozen or so women riders on Tower Connect wearing lots of GoPros and having a blast.  They seemed to be paired up with an experienced rider helping a beginner.  Said they were making a documentary on learning to ride MTB and a few of the women were first timers.  There were several cameramen near the trail head and a production crew in the lot.

Wonder if this is tied to the beginner lessons that have been going on in the North Lot the last few weekends?
