Tech Bench / Shimano Shadow Plus XT Rear derailleur lubrication ?

There is a rubber plug covering a port on the bottom of the clutch compartment.   Does anyone know if this is for lubricant and if so what type and how often?

to Brent Marshall and the other fellow who helped me out of the woods and to the hospital this evening.    I ended up with 6 stitches and a mild concussion but otherwise I am fine.  Your actions and assistance are greatly appreciated.

Tech Bench / Narrow wide chainring

I have run a Race Face Narrow chainring for 4 laps at TRTP with zero problems.  No chain guide and with a non-clutch 9 speed RD, the chain stays on the chain ring like magic.

Anyone been riding on the Indy green ways lately?   Just trying to understanding of which ones are road bike or mountain bike passable?
