« on: September 02, 2015, 10:44:54 PM »
Coming back to visit family and friends this long weekend. Hoping for an easy ride around the park (co workers have been slacking on their riding lol).....

Anyone know of fat bike rentals? If not I'll rent a skinny tire from Hesitation point shop in Nashville, but would prefer a fatty

Advocacy / Help save the trails from the Wilderness act

Here in Idaho we've lost a handful of amazing trails recently due to the Wilderness act that bans "mechanized travel" aka bikes. it's happening all over the country, we need to stop this madness.

We are moving to northern Idaho, in the next month or two! Been lots of fun riding here, met lots of great friends on the trails. If anyone is passing through CDa / Spokane area look me up, will be rolling the fat tires out there :)

Also putting our log home (not a kit) up for sale, 45 mins south of Indy, 25 mins to BCSP. Great location for getting to trails :)

Keep in touch, hopefully be back for next years break down!

Brown County State Park / 2013 BCB - Thanks !!!
« on: September 30, 2013, 11:20:28 AM »
Same as every year, thanks to all that was involved with the Breakdown! Sub9, HMBA, all the volunteers, LBS's that set up shop to fix bikes along the way, great food & snacks.

Despite the rain, we had an enjoyable 77 miles yesterday.

Everyone seemed to have a great time that was willing to put up with the mud :) hey, it was fun, can't deny that!!

Thanks everyone!

Brown County State Park / Unsafe work on the trails
« on: August 10, 2013, 09:04:17 AM »
Last week at the creek crossing on green valley, someone had built a horrible "ramp" using flat rocks piled on top of each other. The entire thing was wobbly and the so called landing was mid creek right on the big slick boulder.
Obviously not done by anyone with common sense.

We disassembled it before anyone got seriously hurt.

Also, the unfinished log ride near the end of walnut. Someone piled a bunch of loose pieces of wood and sticks to make a ramp onto it. The flat riding area hasn't been completed yet, so this is probably another spot someone could get hurt, especially since the ramp onto it isn't completed yet.

Just a heads up. If people see things getting built on the trails, stop and make sure they are actually supposed to be out there. Rogue stunts are only going to get people hurt, especially when they are so unsafe.

Crash at start of race??...no worries.....  ;D

Small group of us plan to ride Sat, drink a bunch of beer, & camp. Come say hi we'll be the smelly & likely tipsy MTB'rs at the back of the campsite.

eXplore Brown County at Valley Branch Retreat / VBR 13 Mile loop GPS
« on: July 23, 2013, 09:58:47 PM »

Those of you with a garmin, no need to avoid VBR anymore. Take a friend, GPS, and some climbing legs and follow our normal 13 mile loop.

Click "send to device" and you can follow the route on your garmin.

PS...this will leave you feeling like you rode 26 miles at the park fair warning.....There has been a few guys that put in alot of work out there over the winter months, so most of the loop is rideable. Might be a couple trees down but nothing major, if you do find some, be sure to tell a staff member or Gary the owner the location so they can have it removed.

Rants and Raves / Beer run - Western Canadian style
« on: July 18, 2013, 01:40:07 PM »

Too cool.

Dang, had a sweet high-speed crash on the weekend riding Nebo.
Hit a root, front tire did the back & forth about 4 times, then launched me OTB....flew upsidedown & backpack took the hit of me slamming backwards into a log.

Luckily only scrapes & bruises! & destroyed a new cell phone...oops!

I get up & try to ride....find my cleat & bottom part of my Sidi shoe are still attached to my Time atac xs pedal! Shoes about a year old. Pedals set to easiest release, but again, very high speed crash (+20mph). Still can't believe it tore the cleat off!!

Anyone had this happen?
