Rants and Raves / New Frame suggestions
« on: November 18, 2013, 12:58:34 AM »

I have been looking at a better frame and was thinking about going steel this time around as my current leader lh515 doesnt match the component spec of the bike.   Who makes a decent steel 26in frame anymore?   I have seen gunnar but that seems about it for a 26in hardtail.

Rants and Raves / Blind Biker
« on: April 03, 2013, 11:24:04 AM »
I was going to submit this as a reply to the Team CF thread but I think it deserves its own thread.  If you think that film will motivate you how about this guy also I think I found my new favorite cyclist.

Bobby McMullen
http://www.rideblindracing.com/about.shtml

Also after reading about him he makes Lance look like a total wuss.
Hes had/got
diabetes
loss of his vision
kidney failure
years of dialysis
two kidney/pancreas transplants
open-heart surgery
cancer

He competes nationally in skiing and DH mountain biking.

There's too many videos to really post just one.

This is a video of him describing how it is like for him on the bike

This is also a great representation of how I see as well and has given me some ideas as I never have thought guiding while mtbing to be possible.  It seems to be alot better than trying to memorize every little detail in a trail or having to stop continously to try and scout the route ahead.  Im shocked that I hadn't heard about this guy sooner as Ive looked into DH/XC racing myself. I didnt know about this guy till I read the American printing house for the blind post about him.

Rants and Raves / Frame cracked
« on: June 02, 2011, 11:04:32 AM »
I broke my kestrel evoke sl frame yesterday and was wondering if anyone on here has delt with bikesdirect in replacing a frame.  About how long does it take?  Im looking at replacing it in the mean time with a surly cross check and hopefully bd only wants the frame as Im going to put all the rival parts on it.

Also in the cross check sizing is I ride a 52cm road bike and was wondering if the frame size is european style like the ridleys
