When running with a light on the handlebars and a light on the helmet where do you put the brightest light? On the bike or on the helmet?

Tech Bench / Abandoned bike
« on: October 01, 2012, 09:09:22 AM »
There is an older Raliegh rigid MTB that has been sitting on my street for about two weeks propped
up againts a street sign. Hasn't moved. In decent shape.
Should I try to rescue it and pass it on to someone?
Or leave it until the scrappers get to it on heavy trash week.
Most likely it is stolen and someone abandoned it there.
Thoughts?

Rants and Raves / Indy Crit
« on: July 15, 2012, 09:49:21 AM »
Tried to race the Indy Crit Cat 5 race. Didn't preregister so I knew I might not get in.
Was given a spot because they had several no shows only to lose it when the
no shows showed up. I could live with that. But, several of the riders were Cat 4 or maybe above that were just using the Cat 5 race as a warm-up. I guess that is ok in road racing.
I thought it would be like MTB racing Cats. Really don't think it would have killed them to start the extra 4 or 5 guys extra that showed up. They really need an Intro class just for first timers. Not a really great first try at road racing. :-\

Does anyone know who was taking photos at Brown county and French Lick Dino races?
Looked like some one was shooting the whole race. Would be interested in finding/buying photos if I knew who.

Rants and Raves / Eagle Creek Rant
« on: February 17, 2012, 08:47:54 AM »
Just saw the Indy Star article where they are going to put zip line "adventure" in at Eagle Creek Park.
If they can put this zip line experience in at ECP why can't we get a MTB trail there?
I know this has been a sensitive topic and I don't want to mess up any delicate planning going on.
So if this would hurt please delete it.
10 years ago I spoke with the then head of Indy Parks and he said there would be a MTB trail there
within a year. Still waiting.
I know the Eagle Creek Park Assoc. has been opposed and they kind of run the park.
They need to be shown the BCSP trails and positive things it has done for the park and the area.
TRTP is great and SWW will be good when finished but they are 25 to 30 min. away.
I could ride to ECP. The Lilly charter says the park should be open for all to enjoy.
I think that would include mountain bikes and not just the hikers, bird watchers, rowers, swimmers, fishermen, boaters, golfers and now zip liners.
If HMBA can solve the enviromental impact stuff at Ft. Ben then
ECP should be the same process. I am not sure why there would be an issue. They have a golf course there and golf courses do not preserve nature. We have a bicycle friendly mayor. Why not go to him and get this done? :(
