About this Member Event
The Westside parkland of Eagle Creek Park contains a significant portion of the mature high quality forest remaining in Central Indiana.

A new series of pedestrian trails has been planned, activating more than 1,000 acres of currently inaccessible wooded parkland for use by the general public. The seven mile trail series would also include construction of two ADA trails, vista platforms, foot bridge spans and a signature bridge traversing a major ravine. The new trail system has been carefully designed to make this exceptional area more easily accessible while taking care to avoid unacceptable environmental degradation.

Come join us on June 22nd as Eagle Creek Park Foundation Director Emeriti, John Pankhurst and ECPF Board Vice President LouAnn Baker present the plans for this exciting new trail system.

I have no other details.  This is supposed to be a "Members Only" event.  No idea if they will allow non-members at the door.  The RSVP link states the "Event is "Full".  http://whoozin.com/WGP-VAX-N3AG

We have a size run of the POC Trebec for demo if you want to try one.  We then order each helmet for each person.

There are currently 5-6 miles of rogue trail on in Area L (non-Nature Preserve section) that have been built since May of 2014.  The park was notified in January 2015.  They have not be able to identify, nor catch the person and he continues to build.

Here are photos from January 2015 with approximately 3-4 miles at that time.  Since then the rogue trails have increased to the south toward the Eagle Creek golf course and connect with the old, fall-line hiking trails in the Nature Preserve.

I will not be able to attend, but I hope this gets the attention of the HMBA masses.  The Park Foundation has been working behind the scenes for some time now on a West Side trail that will NOT be open to mountain bikers.  They have acquired proposals and are attempting to finalize plans and budgets to move forward with approval.  All the while a rogue trail builder as put in 5-6 miles of trails since May of 2015.

If you haven't been to the west side in quite some time you should.  If you want to know the status of their plans, please attend this meeting.

I'm a bit disappointed in Chain Reaction lately.  They no longer sell Sidi shoes and now I see I can't buy Sram components from them, either.

Looks like more purchases from JensonUSA and Art's Cyclery will be in order...

SRAM put a stop to all European sites who were selling directly to U.S. consumers for less than what your local bike shop can buy from distributors.  You will probably start to see more of this happening.

Brown County State Park / Women's Clinic this weekend
« on: June 08, 2016, 12:25:10 AM »
Hey all!

Just a reminder the 11th Annual Midwest Women's MTB Clinic is this weekend at Brown County.  There will be lots of ladies out and about and groups will be stopped throughout the trails to work on certain sections/obstacles.  Please be patient if you encounter a group.  Feel free to cheer them on as they conquer their fears and improve their riding skills!

I do still have a few spots open.  Onsite registration will be available Friday afternoon or Saturday morning for $300 (meals not included, t-shirts while supplies last).  Check in at the Rally Campground if you or someone you know is interested!

Ladies Only / 2016 Midwest Women's MTB Clinic
« on: February 29, 2016, 01:05:46 PM »
Hello Ladies!

I am VERY excited for the 11th Annual Midwest Women's Mountain Biking Clinic this coming June 10-12 at Brown County State Park. The demand for this event has been huge and I know how frustrating it can be if you are not one of the first to log on at 9 a.m. to get signed up on April 1st.

Last year's event sold out in LESS THAN ONE HOUR and we want more women to have a shot at getting in!

This year we are once again opening to Intro, Beginner and Intermediate level riders. Submit your name now through Sunday April 3rd to enter into the lottery for one of the 90 available spots. Participants will be selected AT RANDOM and notified of their acceptance into the 2016 clinic no later than Friday, April 8th.

Go to www.MidwestWomensClinic.com for a link to the lottery sign up form.

I have another amazing weekend planned for the 90 lucky ladies who are able to attend and I can't wait to see many new and familiar faces once again!

Cheers,

Advocacy / Re: Discussion about Permit
« on: January 04, 2016, 01:55:25 PM »
Hey Paul - do you know if there is any exception for events?  Wondering what I am going to have to do for the women's clinic.  Three (or more) days of riding for all of my participants, coaches and volunteers.  No way I can keep them all on just Beginner trails, even though most of our participants are Intro and Beginner riders.

Is there anyone at InDNR that I can contact to find out?

Brown County State Park / Re: Current Trail Map
« on: September 24, 2015, 12:05:54 PM »
Is there an updated trail map that includes Bobcat Bowl, the Aynes Connector and anything else that is newer? I was on the trails today and these are not on the map from the park entrance. I came across the Aynes Connector and ended up quite confused. I noticed the map in the Phase 3 thread appears to be in Google Earth - are they publicly available or kml files on someone's private computer?

The 2015 Brown County Mountain Bike Tourism Map is available.

Shows new trails as well as approved "future" trails.  Available for purchase online or at select locations including Hesitaion Point bike shop or the Touism Center in Nashville, Bicycle Station on Columbus or Bluegrass Bicycle Company in Indy.

Hello Ladies!

Registration for the 10th Annual Midwest Women's Mountain Bike Clinic is set to open at 9 a.m. (est) on Wednesday, April 1.  This is one of the largest and longest running women's mountain bike clinics in the country... and it's practically in your own back yard!

Join us at Brown County State Park in beautiful Nashville, Indiana the weekend of June 12-14, 2015.

Cost is $300 and includes two full days of riding and instruction with our IMBA-ICP certified instructors, catered meals throughout the weekend, commemorative event t-shirt, on-site camping at our exclusive event campground, access to our Liv (Giant Bicycles) Campfire Clinics, sponsor raffles, Naked Lady Party gear and clothing exchange, and much more!

Don't delay if you want to be part of the fun.  This clinic sells out in just a matter of hours!  This year we are once again opening the doors to only 80 women.  We will be offering Intro, Beginner and Intermediate skill levels at the 2015 event.

We are excited to announce we have donated two spots to the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association.  The HMBA will be giving away these entries as part of their annual membership drive!

Check out this fun video from last year's clinic...

Then go to www.MidwestWomensClinic.com for all the details and a link to sign up.  We hope to see you in June at the 10th annual event!
