Events / Re: 2019 Big Woods Epic registration is open
« on: October 04, 2019, 09:34:53 AM »
I know Giant will be there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with demo bikes.

HMBA’s position is that E-Mountain Bikes are a separate user group from Mountain Biking.  We do not believe that e-mountain bikes should be allowed on all mountain bike trails, but do see them as valid means of recreation that can benefit many Hoosiers who are not served by human powered mountain bikes.

As someone that sees himself on an e-mountain bike sometime in the next 2 decades, I respectfully disagree with this characterization and view of e-mountain bikes.

*Note-this is my personal opinion, and may not reflect the opinion of my employer, who sells e-bikes (but not e-mountain bikes, cause, you know, nobody allows them.  Yet.)

Events / Ride with Jeff Lenosky this week!
« on: March 12, 2018, 12:05:34 PM »
Jeff Lenosky is going to be in town later this week, but instead of watching him do his trials show, this year you'll be able to go on a ride with him instead!  Schedule looks like:

Thursday, 3/15 at Southwestway Park 5-7pm

Friday, 3/16 at Town Run (if open, if not open, then at SWW) noon-2pm, 4-6pm

Saturday: 3/17 at The Headquarters Mountain Bike Skills Park 10-noon/Town Run 2-4pm

Keep an eye on BGI's facebook page for updates.

General Trail Information / Re: Why isn't Ski World a MTB park?

Gnaw Bone and Valley Branch butt up against each other but not the park (Separated by Hwy 135 and private property from BCSP)

I would guess that when Alice Lorenz passes, Gnaw Bone Camp would end up being owned by the Sycamore Land Trust.

I wonder if the Land Trust will continue to allowing mountain biking?  Something to get in front of?

Town Run / Re: Yeti Demo at TRTP this Saturday, 9/2

Nothing screams shred a yeti like town run. Why couldn't you take the demo to brown county or about anywhere besides town run. So flat and boring

Because it's close to the local Yeti dealer, and after riding one you can run over to BGI and order it from me.  Order one this weekend from me at BGI North, and I'll give you a gift card for 10% of the price of the bike after it comes in!  Plus, after the Demo, Yeti is going to be at BGI for the rest of the day showing off the new stuff.  Easier to do if you don't have to drive an hour after packing up.

One other thing to consider, at a place like Brown County State Park, it's really easy for someone to go out on a Demo bike and then be gone for hours, meaning that other people wanting to try out that bike maybe don't get a chance to ride it.  With a limited number of bikes that a company can bring, it makes things a bit more fair for customers if the demo is limited to place without a bunch of miles of trails.

Just got an update from someone on the ground that the trails are good at least to the highway.  That's as far as they went.
