Tech Bench / Tire Pressure
« on: June 25, 2012, 03:24:21 PM »
What are the negatives of running low pressure? I've read people talking about pinch flats but is there much else? I'm probably 155lbs when riding and have about 20lbs up front and 22lbs in rear with tubes. Reading around it seems like that is on the really low end but I haven't had a flat so far (have only been riding a few months). Just wondering if I should go up a little in psi or just stay the same until i start getting flats.

Trail was good other than a few minor spots. Imagine it will be great tomorrow.

Could tack trail markers be used? White for clockwise and orange for counter? Looks like they are 1/2" diameter and fairly cheap. Or some other way to mark it like spray paint dots or small arrows.

Thanks. Went ahead and ordered the new 2011 Trails for $70/ea. and got some dry lube and a patch kit while at it.

Tech Bench / Hayes Stroker Ryde or Trail?
« on: May 01, 2012, 08:48:38 AM »
Assuming I don't miss these deals should I go used Rydes for $80 or new 2011 Trails for $150? Neither comes with rotors. I'm a new rider and upgrading from mechanical discs seems like a good place to start upgrades. Both seem decent but the Trails are supposed to have better stopping power and better adjustments (and I can choose color). If anyone is selling similar items feel free to let me know too.

Thanks

Might head there tonight or sometime in the near future. Looking at the property map...do you start near paw park then ride oriole, poplar, brian's, eaglesway, tulip, willow?

Newbies Corner / New to riding and the forum
« on: April 24, 2012, 10:23:48 PM »
Just wanted to say hello as a newbie. Also thank you to I believe it was Indiana Dave who helped explain a bit of the trails to me at SWW. Even with the decent directions I still got fairly lost but found the parking lot both times so it all worked out. I've had my bike less than a month but already want upgrades. I've ridden Town Run and SWW each once so far. I bought the Felt Nine Flow thinking I wouldn't want to ride too much on trails so I wouldn't need anything too great which technically I don't. But after my first time out (Town Run) I might be hooked. Looking at all the better components has me dreaming. Hopefully I will hit the trails a couple times a week and see some of you out there.
