Your about my size and that puts you right on the border between medium and large frame sizes for most manufacturers. You have to ride some bikes and see what you like. Southwestway has a good progression of trails to get comfortable on. If your on a small budget you will get a lot more bike for the money with a hardtail and it would be adequate for almost all the local trails. If your not to familiar with bikes you might see if potential sellers would meet you at a bike shop for a test ride and you could have a mechanic give it a look over.

Is Versailles going to be closed on the same dates as Brown County and Fort Harrison for hunting?

Twitter feed shows yellow. Has anybody been riding recently and brushed against all the weeds that have a vine growing on them? I'm wondering if it is poison anything, which may explain why my leg is so itchy. I'd like to go again if anybody can confirm it's not poison oak, ivy, etc...
Three leaves let it be, at least for poison ivy and poison oak. Poison oak has an oak shaped leaf while poison ivy has a more arrowhead shaped leaf sometimes with a little thumb.

I doubt it, I live on the southeast side and we got dumped on a couple of times. Probably tomorrow afternoon before anything is dry enough to ride. Of course there was this post from the Fort Harrison thread. http://www.hmba.org/smf/index.php?topic=14331.0

Looking at putting a trail heading up their sledding hill then down the side with a drop off at the end.
This would be a good idea, the few times I rode there before the park was complete I always seen guys bombing down the sledding hill. What a great feature that would be.

Post up about your favorite bike shop and what makes it special. Great service, inventory, or online catalog. Maybe it is the local flavor, product/bike brand or selection, or maybe they have a great wrench that gets it right every time. It can be local or one that you've visited when out of town or even an online retailer. Provide links if possible.

I also follow James Wilson. I take some of his opinions / info and leave some. It is important to note that not only does he favor flats but standing pedaling on flats. Standing engages all of the leg muscle groups in a more natural motion and, yes, requires more energy and thus can't be sustained as long. Standing also gives you better command over the bike but that is for a different conversation. This works for me because I don't race and when I ride I usually go for a couple of miles then take a short break, go a couple of more miles then take a break and so on. I just ride for the enjoyment and technical challenge not so much the fitness so I don't care about long sustained efforts. I ride on some Easton flat boys and a pair of Five Tens and I love them. Some clearance issues when I first switched but nothing a little pedal awareness doesn't solve. Figure out what kind of riding you like to do then determine what kind of equipment fits that.

Log is gone, no way to make it a sustainable feature with the steepness of the slope and the bench cut trail, plus the log was rotting out and split from the fall.

Thanks for clearing what you could. I am certified and I plan on riding tomorrow around 12:30 so I'll take care of the rest of it.
Done!

I cleared the small limbs, brush, and vines off of the tree this afternoon....if someone had a chainsaw it'll take literally 2 minutes to clear the trail. I'll clear it tomorrow evening if it hasn't been done by then.
