Brown County State Park / Best Gnaw Bone return route
« on: July 24, 2023, 02:33:20 PM »
What do you guys consider the best return route to the top of Gnaw Bone - HP or the south side of Bobcat?
I have not ridden the south side of Bobcat in that direction in a long time, if ever - usually go the other direction.  What is the easiest return in terms of climbing and duration?

Ibis would be another good one too.  They've been there before of course, and Harry their east coast Demo guy really enjoys the area.

The updated Epic info mentions demos again.  Please contact Pivot Cycles about coming.  They have active demo fleets throughout the country right now.

And will it connect all the way over to Hesitation Point or just to Bobcat by the road?

Does Weedpatch have signage at the trail heads yet?  Will it be officially open for the Epic weekend?

French Lick Resort / Where can I find info about French Lick Trails

No activity on here for a long time.  And I didn't find a facebook page for the trails.  MTB project doesn't have many reviews or appear to get much activity either.
Are the trails there still active and being maintained?  Is there a place to find current conditions?

Is there a date yet for the Versailles Xterra in 2017?

I agree.  To say you have to drive 30 minutes to Bloomington or Columbus for good food, beer or lodging is way off.  Especially if giving advice to a first time visitor.  Those places are great too, but to get the full experience of Brown County, a visit to Nashville is a MUST.

Does the 19.5 mile total you mention include the last chance trail and what is completed so far on the other side of the creek?  I have yet to ride that part.  I think the rest of the existing trail is about 14 miles right?  If there is an additional 6 miles or more that's been added, I need to go find it next time I'm out there.

Is the new trail across the creek on the Hassmer Hill side or is it closer to the existing trailheads?  Is there an estimate on when this will be finished?  I would  love to come and lend a hand sometime.  I bring the family there to camp occasionally from KY and maybe it will coordinate with one of the work weekends.

Will this be a new section of an existing trail?  Or is there a completely new trail being started?

Is there a trail that can be ridden on the Hassmer Hill side?  And if so, how do you get to it?  I'm camping in the park through Sunday night and would love to check it out?

I'll be there for a long weekend in a few weeks too.  I personally prefer going Left (clockwise) around both North Tower and Aynes.  The climbing on Aynes is pretty intense either way, but you'll enjoy a longer downhill experience going clockwise.  You are doing yourself a real disservice if you don't ride Green Valley both ways.

The IMBA epic route listed on the Brown County Breakdown website and IMBA's site is a pretty great guide.

So what is the next step for this project?  Is there a timeframe by which you'll expect a response on the grant?
