Does this mean that the new membership system is up and running?  Mine expires Oct. 1st and I don't want to miss out on renewal and getting another sharp looking BCBD pint glass!
WHOOT!

Is there a way to check and see if your membership is current?  I think I signed up in June (i.e. I paid) but wasn't sure if I should have received some sort of confirmation.

Thanks,

Ryan

How can we donate $ directly to HMBA without going through IMBA? The online link on the homepage is expired. Paypal would be awesome. Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing, I recently joined and while I am sure it takes time to process new memberships with the new system it would be good to know what to expect.

According to the IMBA site, we are to receive a "membership packet". I did the $50, so I'm expecting socks, at a minimum 8)

I'll post up here once I receive the packet, so folks will know what to expect.

Membership?  Got a friend who sent in his money to become a member and has only received a response from IMBA but not HMBA which isn't the problem.  He's wanting to register on this forum so that he can communicate with the trailbuilders out at FH but cannot get on here for some reason.  Help?!?!  His name is Doug Thomas and any help would be appreciated!!  Thank You!

How long ago did he register? We were having significant SPAM issues until we upgraded our forum. I no longer have to filter out 100's of SPAM registrations, so as long as he registers with a valid email address, and from an IP in the US, he'll get in. Please have him register again, and PM me with the username he chooses. I'll make sure he gets activated.

Thanks,
Dean

Renewed membership along with registering for the breakdown.  Have not heard anything from HMBA.  Got a newsletter/mag from IMBA telling me that my membership expired.  Never a member of IMBA.  Have been a HMBA member for about 5 years or more.  Can you please explain the mix-up or the HMBA/IMBA think still has teething problems?

Thanks

Thanks!

I just did.. Received my membership card and socks last week. It took about a month or so....maybe a bit more. I signed up on the IMBA web site though, not the Breakdown (couldn't make it this year). I'm not sure what the process was for those memberships.

Just to let people know IMBA extended my membership expiration to the date of my HMBA membership.  My IMBA membership would have expired 12/31/2011 but when I went to renew it I saw they changed my expiration date to March 11, 2012 when my HMBA membership would have expired.

That explains why I had not received any notices for renewal.

Out of curiousity, has anyone recieved any notification yet from IMBA who signed up at the Breakdown? I am sure so many renew/join through that event that it probably takes longer, especially since the merger just completed a couple of months ago.

Ok, So the memberships form the Breakdown came at a bad time in the process.  Basically they imported all all membership data right before the breakdown, so the Breakdown memberships and some lost memberships from the annual meeting are in queue to be added in a more manual process.

I spoke with our contact from IMBA today and it is on top of their list of things to do and they hope to have the data entered soon.

So please hang tight.

Paul

Hi Dean, the above link needs to be updated.
With memberships starting to come up for renewal, a refresher.
HMBA-IMBA Membership fee will be split 60/40 (60% for IMBA, 40% for HMBA ).
For me, I'll be renewing my HMBA-IMBA Membership at a lower dollar level and Donating to the HMBA Trail Fund (100% to HMBA), see above link.

Has anyone had to renew their HMBA/IMBA membership within the last 3-4 months?  My HMBA membership expired 6/17/12 so I logged onto the IMBA website and filled out my info and paid my dues.  I was watching this thread and it looked like it was taking 6-8 weeks to receive the membership package.  After the 8 weeks I sent them a message through their website and several days had passed without a response.  I called them on 8/28 and talked to someone and they stated that the member socks had been on back order and that I should see my package within 1-2 weeks.  Still nothing from them so I called today and the lady said that they have received the socks and the warehouse picked them up and should be shipping them soon.  She asked that I call them back if I had not received anything by next Friday.

Is anyone in the same boat as me with renewing for the first time under IMBA and still waiting on your membership package?  Or, if you have just received your package it would be nice to know that they are indeed shipping them out.  The lady today was very nice and seemed completely at the mercy of the warehouse and didn't have any control over the process.

Chris

I renew my membership every year with my BCBD entry. Last year, right after renewing, I started receiving notices from IMBA that my membership had expired. I emailed IMBA and got them to stop sending the notices, but no membership packet. No big deal. As soon as I renewed this year I started receiving expiration notices again. I suspect the info's getting lost somewhere between HMBA and IMBA.
It would be nice to have an IMBA sticker to show my support, but I'd settle for knowing that I'm still a member.

Note:  IMBA tracks members by email address.  If you have ever been an IMBA or HMBA member and provided your email address, you should be in IMBA's database."

Also if you have ever used a different email address with IMBA you may be in their datebase twice or more (happened with me).  I was getting notices that my membership had expired but it was for the an other email address that I used in the past.

If this happens you can call them (ph 888-442-4622) or email them (Contact at the bottom of the IMBA page) and they can quickly merge your two (or more) files.  You just need to tell them which email address you want to use going forward.  I found it best just to call them, and get it resolved in a minute or two.

For them to match your two (or more) files you need to give them all the email address(es) that you used with IMBA in the past OR your mailing address(es) that you have used with IMBA.

Well, none of my other email addresses appear on the IMBA site. Also frustrating: I registered for the BCBD without logging in to BikeReg, so I can't access my registration to verify that I joined HMBA/IMBA (though my total registration fee reflects that I did).
I think I'll just suck it up and pay for another membership, knowing that my $$ is building trails, and in the future I'll join directly from the IMBA site.

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I had been calling IMBA to see where my membership package was (renewed 6/10).  Jennifer Hill at IMBA was very helpful but had limited pull to get the shipping & receiving dept. to get all of the packages out.  She said that there were many other that had been calling so if you are still waiting I would give her a call (ext. 118) and see if she can help.  I finally received my membership package and socks on Friday.  Nice socks and stickers, etc.

Thanks gmcttr,,  I am now a member ( I think ) I followed the link to join and it took me to the IMBA. I paid my contribution and I guess I'm now an OFFICIAL HMBA/IMBA member.
I made a contribution to the "2012/2013 HMBA Trail Fund" on Oct. 17th.  Using the "BikeReg.com" site.   I probably done this BUTT backwards. Probably should have joined the Membership first then made the Trail Fund contribution next.  OH Well !!!
Happy to be able to help a GREAT team and sport.   :D

Is there a trick to getting notices of IMBA membership expiring?  This is the second year in a row that my membership expired without an email notice (and yes, I always check my spam folder on that email account).  The first time, I didn't notice for over six months - this one just expired on Tuesday, but it's only dumb luck and random clicking that made me notice so timely this time.

I guess I'm just spoiled by all the organizations that irritate the snot out of me when my dues are coming due.  :)

Edit:  I just logged into my IMBA account, and under my preferences, "Do not Email" is NOT checked and "Send Renewals" is set to "Yes".  I'm also not clear on where to go on the IMBA site to see what my membership expiry date is...

I renewed recently and noticed that the Imba site sucks for showing your account info. I couldn't find my expiration date, order history showed empty, whatever. I did, however, get a reminder email.

Thanks for the input, guys.  Since email notification seems to be working for some, I logged back onto my IMBA account to look a little closer at my preferences.  There is one more radio button that says "Solicit for Membership" that I had set to "No" since I had no idea what they meant by that.  I went ahead and set it to "Yes" and will see if that works.  If it actually works, it seems kind of redundant to have both a "Send Renewals" and a "Solicit for Membership" option...

Yeah check out those contact preferences. I have been through the training to use that membership system as a board member and some of those options still don't make sense to me. I have asked imba to put some explanations for those options but got no traction. Maybe time to revisit those suggestions.

To get to your account info, click on "Edit Account" in the upper right hand corner at https://www.imba.com/ (https://www.imba.com/).

If you have any questions feel free to contact IMBA at 1-888-442-4622 or 1-303-545-9011.  Ask for "Member Services."

Or via email, https://www.imba.com/contact (https://www.imba.com/contact)

There is an upgrade occurring this weekend (8/3/2014).  The below from IMBA.

"This coming Sunday night/Monday morning IMBA will be upgrading our database and constituency relationship manager, CiviCRM, to the latest version (4.4.6). There will be an outage for both the US IMBA.com website and CRM during this time but the website and database should be back online at the start of business Monday morning. This update includes a host of bug fixes and feature enhancements that will become the foundation for organization and chapter related functionality upgrades which will be rolled out in the coming months such as auto-renewing memberships/contributions, tracking of volunteer efforts, mail enhancements, and more. We have been testing the upgrade of our system to CiviCRM 4.4.6 in a development environment and backups are kept for ensuring data integrity. The basic user interface and general functionality will remain very familiar, so there shouldn't be a learning curve to using the new version."

As in years past, membership in HMBA and IMBA were included in the Breakdown (Epic) fee.  Was this the same this year or are they individual fees now.  I have not received anything from IMBA in awhile.

Thanks

Post by: Paul_Arlinghaus on November 02, 2014, 09:19:52 AM
In past years you could join HMBA/IMBA while registering for the Breakdown.  But it wasn't included in the cost of the Breakdown, you had to pay for both the Breakdown and membership.  We didn't dot that this year, as it just adds another step (and more time) in the process.  It is best to join HMBA-IMBA through the IMBA membership tools (online, or reply to mailed membership renew requests).

If want to check you membership status, go to www.IMBA.com (http://www.hmba.org/smf/www.IMBA.com)

In the upper right hand corner there will be a log in section.  Log in using you email address (normal tools available if you forgot your password).

You can also call the IMBA membership team at 1 888 442 4622 or email at membership@imba.com

Also, note that if you are not getting emails or mail from IMBA reminding you to renew.  You can check your contact settings on the IMBA Website.  Once you sign in, click on "edit account"  Under communication preferences, check to make sure that you have this set up the way that you want, but note that if you select to not receive emails and mailings, or select to not solicit for membership, then you will not receive membership renewals.

As a former member who let his HMBA membership lapse without renewing, I thought I'd throw is out there:  I'll be renewing my membership this year.  I had many reason or not renewing for years: I don't ride as much, I did my share of trail building, I've donated to the cause, etc.  I have done a couple weekend road trips this year, riding many trails that HMBA have built and maintained.  they are doing a great job making trails for everyone to ride (many of them free).  I remember riding trails in southern Indiana back in the day when Youngs Creek, Shirley Creek,Gnaw Bone camp and Nebo (then known as Knobstone) were the go to trails and you weren't sure from one ride to the next what you were going to get.  Since HMBA started building and maintaining trails, places like BCSP , Ft Ben, SWW,  Obannon, Etc are go to trails for a lot of riders.  These trails are well groomed an very well taken care of by people giving their time and experience to give us sweet places to ride.  Well worth the cost of membership!
