This was the second time I've ridden these trails. The first being the last time a DINO mission race was there (not impressed then).
WOW!!! These are some really fun trails.
-sweeping descents
-gradual climbs
-long straightaways
-twisty sections
-rock crossing under a bridge (tried it both directions and couldn't get out either way)
-slick rocks
-no real messy spots
This trail is a blast and doesn't look like it gets a lot of traffic judging by the leaf cover on the trail. I'm not sure if all the weed whacking that has been done is a regular thing or if it was because of the DINO weekend coming up but the whacking was 1st class.
The only complaint is I think I missed some trails because it's a tiny bit confusing with all the intersections there. I'm not one to carry a map with me but to "memorize it" before I go. A couple more trips and I think I'll have it down.
AWESOME network ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;

That trail has always been one of my favorites. I haven't had a chance to try the new out and back part. Did you ride it?

I rode there Monday night. It is my favorite race course and one of my favorite trails. My tendancy over the years is the ride the heck out of the trail the month before the DINO race and thet n not ride it much the rest of the year.
It is amazing that every year that I come back, I find that the trail builders have tweaked and improved the trail a little more. I have ridden it since its beginning and you can really see the maturity of how the people who build and maintain have really improved their ability and feel for the trail. You guys are doing good work.

I don't think so because I never had to turn around.

If you are looking for the new out and back trail "Park Ave." it will be just after you cross through the glass creek section of Muscatatuck.
It is just before the start of the climb to the ball field. Look to the right and you will see an opening for new trail system. Signs will hopefully be availble this season.

What would be sweet would be to use the new trail around the campground for the short track race on July 2. Everyone would get to see the racers from a good vantage point. Don't know if it would be long enough to use.
-
Actually, I think that section of trail is longer than the usual stxc course.
-
Does anyone know what the dh course there is like? I was interested in running it at the DINO race on the July 2nd. How long of a course? If someone has photos please post them.

SS Ric ,,,,, I've only tried to make this transition from under the bridge 3 times now ( heading away from shelter house ) and have not yet made it myself. But, I'll keep plugging away at it. lol
If you've not been to Muscatatuck for awhile, you might want to get over there again. They have some MORE new trails that have just finishing up the last one last week. FUN place to ride !! ;D

shelter 2 has the most parking with shade. Trailheads are everywhere so take a map.

Thanks for the reply Ric, looks like I'll be there late morning getting my ride on.

The trails are surely sweet....I rode them with a buddy on Wednesday afternoon....however, there were still some wet spots from the Dino race damage that holds water....where the trail was described as peanut butter and low spots that need some nicking....
other than that, the trails were in great shape.....this system has a lot of flow and it's a fun course....
The trails can be difficult to follow as the updated signage has not been put in place yet....but it is still a great place to ride !
My compliments to the hard working trail stewards at the 'TUCK...thank you all very much !! :)

Rode musc for the first time a week ago an that place needs signs more than any trail i've ever ridden. Was actually quite aggravating for the first hour or so. Cool trails but signs would make the trails soooooooooooooooooo much better

I second this opinion.
